Resilience and Assertiveness Training

Including lunch or dinner

Former Kriterion member and trainer Zelah and her team will guide you in developing skills to confidently handle challenging situations and difficult clients.

Have you ever experienced feelings of uncertainty or confusion? Do you know how to set your boundaries? What do you do if a colleague behaves awkwardly or if a client is aggressive, drunk, or discriminatory? This training will give you insight into your own behavior, so you can respond more effectively in challenging situations.

Because knowing how to act under stress is a skill that will benefit you for the rest of your life.

Sign up before December 13th!

I was very nervous when I first started working here, a softer landing through a training course could have really helped me.

-Quote from a former student

A resilience training is important, not only for self-confidence but also for the responsibility you take on.

-Quote from a former student

Why this training course?

The need for a training course in assertiveness and resilience comes from the feedback we received during evaluation discussions with former members of the Kriterion projects. In these discussions, several recurring themes emerged that highlight the importance of these skills in the workplace.

Many former members mentioned that, despite their motivation and dedication, they sometimes didn’t know how to act and felt uncertain in those situations. This supportive training is therefore the first course we want to offer through the Kriterion Academy.

What you will learn

During this interactive and informative training, ‘Resilience and Assertiveness,’ we will work together on various situations.

You will learn, among other things:

  • Better understand yourself:
    recognize your primary stress reactions and those of others;
  • Handle discomfort and aggression in the workplace:
    respond professionally to inappropriate behavior;
  • Set boundaries and confront:
    communicate clearly and effectively;
  • React in a de-escalating and empathetic way:
    maintain control of the situation by adapting;
  • Act stress-resilient:
    learn to stay calm under pressure and still take effective action.

Meet Zelah and the traing team

Zelah

I’m Zelah (1986), a psychosocial therapist, trainer, and coach, and I have my own practice in Amsterdam. Before I found this work, I explored many different paths. I tried various studies and spent 2.5 years traveling solo, experiencing different lifestyles while working on permaculture farms, in a Buddhist temple in New Zealand, and as a safari guide in Australia.

During my time as a student in Amsterdam, I was accepted into Kriterion in 2008 (after applying twice). A dream come true! I immediately joined the board and organized the International Student Film Festival Cinestud in 2010. Although I was highly motivated, I also felt uncertain. How do you have difficult conversations? How do you deal with irresponsible colleagues? My personal and professional lives often intertwined. Guidance to discuss these challenges would have been incredibly helpful.

I look forward to working with you in the coming period on your personal and professional growth.

Leonie

Engaged, warm, and entrepreneurial. I enjoy connecting people with their environment. I work as a garden and food forest designer to make our world a bit more sustainable and beautiful, and as a trainer and coach in personal development at various organizations.

Frauke

In the 15 years I worked in the hospitality industry, including in Curaçao, I experienced and learned a lot. About different cultures, teamwork, setting boundaries, and dealing with difficult customers or colleagues who had a very different perspective on the world. Because I moved frequently as a child, I began studying others from a young age. It became natural for me to care about others so that I knew how to feel comfortable around them. While this has brought me many insights, it also sometimes creates tension when it comes to setting my own boundaries. I have worked on becoming more aware of this and continue to invest in recognizing and maintaining my boundaries.

Since becoming a trainer and coach, I’ve been using my knowledge to cover topics such as giving feedback, resilience, communication, and dealing with change.
